Craig Barrie, President of
Dragon Powerboats Inc., founded the high performance boat manufacturer
in early 2002. Craig’s background is unique in that he has significant
experience designing high performance boats as well as managing the
operation of large organizations. Craig started with Cigarette Racing
Team in 1984. From 1984 to 1992, he was Vice President of Sales &
Marketing and was responsible for reestablishing the dealer network
and distribution model, expanding Cigarette into international markets
and designing several boat models including Café Racer. From 1992 to
1999, he was President & CEO. As CEO, he managed the operation,
including production, sales and marketing and was responsible for
implementing a cost procedure for manufacturing boats with a correct
bill of material and designing the company’s top three models – 38’ Top Gun, 46’ Rough Rider and the 42’ Tiger.
During his tenure at Cigarette, he was was President & Owner of Hawk
Marine Power, a high performance engine manufacturer. At Hawk, he and
Bud Lorow transformed the small engine manufacturer into a brand name
which was the first engine manufacturer to launch superchargers into a
successful marine application. From 1971 to 1984, Craig was a member
of the senior management of Faberge, Inc., where he was Executive Vice
President. At Faberge, he was responsible for $160 million of sales,
managed 250 sales representatives, developed and implemented the
concept of Faberge’s Organic Hair products, and relocated to England
and France to launch Brut throughout Europe with the Faberge
International companies.
Craig was a professional high performance boat racer for over 10 years
including Offshore and Formula One. He won world championships in 1981
and 1998 and was sponsored by such companies as Cigarette, Coors,
B&M, Trane, Hawk Marine, Faberge and Texaco Havoline. Craig has been
featured in several publications, including four articles that were
published by Motorboating & Sailing magazine and two videos on marine
safety for the U.S. Coast Guard.
